The Journey Begins: Unraveling the Process of Becoming How to become a Life Coach

Has there ever been a moment where you’ve deeply desired to make a tangible difference in other people’s lives? If the answer is a resounding ‘yes,’ then you’re in the right place. I’m Felicity Muscat, a former life coach turned Business coach.

With seven years spent as a Life Coach and Mindset mentor, I now aid online Coaches, Practitioners, and Service providers in constructing a profitable six-figure business as well as mentor them to be unstoppable and resilient with the challenges that being in business presents.

This journey has empowered me to guide clients through a remarkable transformation, from adopting new perspectives to achieving success. However, it all begins with one pivotal aspect: deciding that you want to become a life coach.

A lot of people feel that they are unsure if they would enjoy it, and having coached others in Relationships, Business, Health, and mindset for so long, I would describe the feeling as feeling empowered to know you are making a difference to another person. Having done this for six years, here are the qualities I feel would make a great coach: If you don’t have these, don’t worry; they can be worked on.

If you are someone who is patient, your client will not always do what you want them to do.

You are someone who doesn’t associate failure or mistakes as bad as your client will make a lot of them; your job is to be neutral and encouraging as opposed to judgemental or harsh.

Having successfully developed a positive relationship with each of my clients, as well as receiving over 30+ referrals per year, the one quality they mentioned that made them know I was the coach for them was being kind and compassionate, not judgemental.

If you want to know what causes a client to choose you over every other coach in business, I recommend the client Attraction formula. This book will help you double your client signups. How do I know this? As for the first 2 years of my Coaching business before the 6 years, I failed terribly. Until I started holding workshops,

I also, through a lot of trial and error, managed to keep clients for 4 years each. This is pretty much unheard of in this industry. If you want to know how to do this, this book will help you achieve that.

The Freedom Job of Life Coaching

Life coaches act as beacons of hope, guiding individuals through the journey called life. From navigating challenges to identifying potential and reshaping perspectives, life coaches ensure that individuals foster the best version of themselves, so it’s advised that you have some experience working with others by giving out free sessions until you feel you are able to manage taking on clients who will hold you to the results you mentioned you would provide. If you are just starting out, a good idea is to practise with clients, which you can find in a lot of Facebook groups. Countless numbers of people are eager to be coached for free.

How to Embark on Your Life Coaching Journey

The first step in your adventure of becoming a life coach is to comprehend what life coaching truly entails.

Educate Yourself

Educate yourself about coaching as an industry, its demand, the specialities it encompasses, and the impact it offers to clients. As well as that, the one thing I wish I had known 10 years earlier is lead generation. Become an expert in this, as without traffic and clients coming in, your business will not succeed.

Choose an Accredited programme.

Pursuing an accredited life coach certification maximises credibility, assuring clients of your proficiency as a coach. Once done, if you need other ways to boost credibility, here is my book on this. This will help you establish yourself once you start out.

Acquire Certification

Completing a qualified certification programme furnishes you with the necessary skills and tools for life coaching. You don’t need to be certified, and I’ve coached countless coaches who coach others on their life experiences alone. Although you do want to have either life experience, certification, or have worked with 10 or more practise clients, This will enhance your credibility as a coach and will shine when you are on social platforms, displaying the value of what you do.

The Path of Continuous Learning

Never stop learning and evolving in your coaching journey. Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements, as marketing platforms and what works and what doesn’t, has changed a lot over the last 5 years alone.

The pathway to becoming a life coach, although challenging, will require you to grow in ways you never have.
